Denis Mole is an Essex Potter, based in Upminster, where he has lived since the 1960s.
His pottery career started a few years ago, and now he throws at Turning Earth Studios in Leyton, where he is a member with access to clay, wheels, glazes and kilns.
Although he is happy to sell pots that he makes to anyone who likes them, he is by no means a commercial potter; he does not make pots to sell. All his work is essentially experimental and as such results in unique pieces.
All of his pots are thrown initially on a wheel and then trimmed, glazed and fired in whatever colours or shapes he desires. Some may be made from composite throwings, several pieces joined together, or manipulated after throwing to achieve a particular effect.
